Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced that the next meeting of the guarantor states according to the Astana formula on Syria will be held within a few weeks.
Sputnik news agency quoted Lavrov as saying today in a press briefing that the next meeting of the Astana process is being prepared to be held in the Kazakh capital, Nur-Sultan, in the next few weeks, and observers from Arab countries will participate in it.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Mukhtar Taluberdi, announced last month that the new round of talks according to the Astana formula on Syria would be held in mid-December in Nur-Sultan.
The Astana meetings began in the Kazakh capital at the beginning of 2017, and 16 meetings were held, one of them in the Russian city of Sochi, and in total, they emphasized the firm commitment to preserving Syria’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity, and continuing the war against terrorist organizations in it until its final defeat.
