Damascus-SANA

The audience following the Marie Orchestra project is accustomed to being in every evening with new musical experiences that carry a different and unique purposeful musical content. This was reflected in her evening, which was led by Maestro Raad Khalaf and was held for two days on the opera stage at Dar al-Assad for Culture and Arts, entitled “My City”.

Through different musical styles of “mechanical and lyrical” music, and daring to present topics that touched the realities of Syrian life, Marie presented an integrated show of music, singing, dialogue and films that dealt in 50 minutes with stories from the heart of daily life in the city of Damascus.

The evening began with Marie’s orchestra presenting the piece “Service Al Balad” dealing with the topic of transportation, after which the academic singer “Roger Laham” participated in the orchestra by presenting two pieces, the first titled “Bil Lahaza” to reflect the moment of love, his grief and longing for the beloved, and the song “Do not go” accompanied by a solo dance that embodied the human condition of this piece. .

The orchestra performed mechanical music titled “A Youth Night,” inspired by the ancient Al-Azm Palace, and played a musical piece related to this harsh human condition, titled “Arab House,” which simulated the terrorism and bombings that the city of Damascus was subjected to.

A dialogue segment about fear was presented by the media, Lotus Masoud, accompanied by a musical instrument, in which she talked about comparisons and approaches to humanitarian cases during wartime, describing them as the film destined for the end, but the person returns in this harsh movie to the place where the music escalated here with all the melancholy and fluidity.

Then the orchestra played one of the folk tales and reflected it through the piece “Green Market”, after which five young singers presented with the orchestra the song “Qali Dakhlak Quli”, which includes a sarcastic criticism of the living reality, and then concludes the evening by presenting a piece of music bearing the national character.

Through Madinaty, the Mari Orchestra establishes a new phase of its project by presenting songs critical to reality and shedding light on beloved community details.

It is noteworthy that the “Marie Orchestra” was established in 2006 to be the first symphony orchestra for girls in the region. It includes more than 60 instrumentalists from all governorates from the Salhi El Wadi Institute, students and graduates of the Higher Institute of Music and European Musical Institutes, who are distinguished in their playing their instruments.

The aim of the “Marie Orchestra” project is to present various musical works that were written specifically for the orchestra to improve the development of the Arabic melody and its features within a new rhythmic and compositional character, and to present Arabic melodies in a modern and modern formulation.
