The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Faisal Miqdad, discussed in Tehran today with the Senior Assistant to the Iranian Foreign Minister for Special Political Affairs Ali Asghar Khaji the next round of Astana talks scheduled to be held in the second half of this month, in addition to the latest developments related to the meetings of the Constitutional Committee.
Miqdad presented the latest political and field developments in Syria, in particular what the Syrian government has achieved in the field of broad national reconciliations and restoring security and stability in most of the Syrian territories, stressing Syria's position rejecting the illegal presence of Turkish forces inside Syrian territory and calling for its commitment to its commitments under the agreements reached within the framework Astana.
In turn, Khaji reiterated Iran's support for the unity, sovereignty and independence of Syria and efforts to combat terrorism, and it was agreed to continue consultation and coordination between the two countries regarding these developments.
