The FDP defense expert Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann is to take over the chairmanship of the defense committee of the Bundestag.
SPIEGEL learned this from parliamentary groups.
The FDP parliamentary group wanted to officially resolve the matter at its meeting on Tuesday.
Decisions have also been made on the chairmanship of the other committees.
The SPD and the Union head the most bodies with seven each.
The 63-year-old Strack-Zimmermann has been a member of the Bundestag since 2017, where she made a name for herself as a defense expert.
Before that she was active in local politics in Düsseldorf.
The FDP is to lead three committees, in addition to defense, the one for human rights and building and housing.
The previous Green parliamentary group leader Anton Hofreiter is to take over the chairmanship of the European Committee after his disembarkation.
It was originally planned that Hofreiter should receive one of the green ministerial posts.
In addition to the European Committee, the Greens will also lead the committees on the subjects of the environment, education and digital.
