Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced that the summit of Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Joe Biden will take place via video link on December 7.
"There will be no live broadcasts, and I believe that the first frameworks for communication are necessary and all communications will take place behind closed doors," Peskov said in a statement to reporters today.
Peskov made it clear that before all serious negotiations, Putin contacts the relevant ministers and heads of departments concerned with bilateral relations between the two countries.
The Russian ambassador to Washington, Anatoly Antonov, had referred in an interview today to the potential impact of the summit in helping to calm the situation in Europe.
In turn, White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki said that Biden intends to focus on the issue of Ukraine in negotiations with Putin, while US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken indicated that Biden will also announce Washington's readiness for stable relations with Moscow.
