Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov expressed confidence that the two plus two formula between the foreign and defense ministers of Russia and India "will become an effective dialogue platform for discussing issues of common interest."

"I am sure that this new mechanism will become an effective dialogue platform for discussing a wide range of regional and international issues and will contribute to deepening traditional mutual understanding and strengthening the special distinguished strategic partnership between our two countries," Lavrov said during the first meeting of this format in New Delhi today, as reported by Russia Today.

Within the framework of these discussions, Russia and India signed a number of military cooperation agreements on the sidelines of the joint talks between the foreign and defense ministers of the two countries in New Delhi, within the framework of the “two plus two formula.”

Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh Yen said after a meeting with Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu that a number of agreements and protocols were signed regarding small arms and military cooperation, describing negotiations between the two sides as "productive and meaningful."
