Hefetz claimed in his testimony in court that "it could have ended in the killing of thousands of people. I left my position with Netanyahu because I thought he was incapable of making security decisions" • The Likud responded: Hefetz was not a partner in them "

State witness Nir Hefetz testified in court today (Monday) and spoke about a security affair that has not yet been revealed.

The affair to which Hefetz referred and which he testified about during his interrogation by the police is the placement of the magnetometers on the Temple Mount.

"There is an affair that has not been exposed, more serious than criminal," Hefetz said, claiming: "It could have ended in the killing of thousands of people."

"I did not do an exercise and I did not make a mistake when I said what I thought about a security affair. I do not want to expand on it, I do not want to harm anyone," Hefetz said in court.

He further claimed that he left his post because he thought Netanyahu was incompetent.

"I left my position with Netanyahu in September 2017 because I thought he was no longer qualified to make security decisions about the State of Israel because of a situation surrounding him ... I think so even today."

The Likud responded: "Nir Hefetz's remarks are absurd and it is not for nothing that even police investigators rejected his claim outright in real time. Hefetz did not participate in any security forum in 2017 and in 2009 he did not participate in any security meeting with the head of the Mossad. The head of the Armed Forces, the Chief of Staff, the Commissioner, the Military Secretary and the head of the National Security Council.

"Decisions regarding the magnetometers were made by security personnel in security forums in which Hefetz was not a partner," the Likud stressed.

"Precisely under Prime Minister Netanyahu, there have been the least deaths from terrorism and wars since the establishment of the state. No prime minister has been more educated than Netanyahu to avoid unnecessary wars and preserve the lives and security of Israeli citizens."
