The defendant Wang Shengda (33 years old), who is the chef of Jiawei Catering, is responsible for managing the kitchens of all branches of the two brands. The three charges allege that between August 2017 and November 2018, Wang Shengda was suspected of conspiring with 9 of the above-mentioned former associates to collect cash registers from the Tseung Kwan O branch of "Hiroshima Ba Ma Ramen" and the Tsim Sha Tsui branch of "Fengyun Maru". The relevant activities were suspected to involve improper handling of cash coupons and customer ordering, and the total amount of cash stolen was about 190,000 yuan.
The 10 former Jiawei catering employees who were sued by the ICAC earlier include Assistant Operations Manager Chen Jiatai, store manager Wu Weitao, Minister Lin Tingfeng, Lin Yingsi, senior chef Yu Kailin, Yu Shiming, chef Lu Jiancheng, Wen Jiasheng, waiter Liu Ruilian, and part-time waiter Ma Juntong.
They were charged with a total of 12 counts, namely three counts of conspiracy to theft, which violated section 9 of the Theft Ordinance and section 159A of the Criminal Offences Ordinance; seven counts of providing benefits to agents violated section 9 of the Prevention of Bribery Ordinance (2) Section (a); and the acceptance of benefits by two agents violates Section 9(1)(a) of the Prevention of Bribery Ordinance.
Ten people will defend themselves in the District Court on February 7 next year.
