So we chose to bring Europe here - which is for sure, sure. For whom the duplex was designed: a

family with an adult child, who won his own floor.

The main requirement: the

owners of the house asked for a living environment that is reminiscent in its energies of a European ski town.

The owner of the apartment is a nature lover, and it was important for her to incorporate natural elements in their raw form.

The story of the house:

The duplex apartment was purchased near the occupancy of the building, and immediately after that the renovation process began.

The apartment features unusual combinations of natural materials and details and ultra-modern, polished elements.

The contrasting combinations contribute to an original and interesting look.

The original use of the material is reflected in all parts of the house.

The main change brought about by the renovation: the

apartment in its original condition was spread over two floors, with seven rooms in one of them.

During the new design, the seven rooms became four and created a more airy and spacious space.

The entrance floor, about 160 square meters, includes an extra large living room, which is divided in the new design into a TV area and a reading area, while the bathroom has been converted into a gym.

This is how the main demand of the homeowners was expressed:

already at the beginning of the process there was a joint dialogue about a combination of natural stone.

The owners of the property sent pictures to the designer, which inspired the manner and dosages in which the basalt stones were incorporated, which was imported from a quarry in Greece.

The stone has been incorporated in various places around the house and is the one that tells the story.

The material palette is minimalist and is based on stone and natural wood parquet that has been roughly machined by sandblasting.

The idea was to produce a variety of encounters with the materials that make up the braces, in different places in space, and everywhere one gets a slightly different interpretation.

The kitchen:

includes a façade that is covered with nano-graphite in a graphite gray shade, and hides the electrical products inside.

Nano is a non-scratch material that does not stick to dirt.

In this way the kitchen regularly maintains a clean and tidy look.

Kitchen cabinets offer plenty of storage space.

The island is canopied with wild, dominant and full of presence onyx stone, which stands out against the background of the monochromatic colors of the wooden parquet and basalt.

Reading area:

Next to the TV corner and in front of the living room, there is a reading area with a woolen upholstered chaise longue and an onyx-covered side table, similar to the onyx stone on the kitchen island.

The stone wall located in front of the chaise longue includes a fireplace and subsequently a hidden door that leads to the security room that serves as a well-equipped gym.

Master Room: The

room was designed as a space divided into a sleeping area and a resting area next to the fireplace wall.

The bathroom space in the master room is extra large and includes a FREE STANDING bath and sink, both oval, a shower and a mirror with a light fixture that put together copious portions of atmosphere and interest.

The walls were covered with iron-like porcelain granite.

Next to the bathroom is a walk-in closet, also with glass doors.

The staircase:

leads to the son's living floor, and is also different during the renovation.

Horowitz chose to cancel the walls that surrounded him and instead created a clean geometric glass railing in a shade of gray.

The stairs were covered with wood.

The connection of the wood and the glass railing creates delicate and interesting balances.

The second floor:

The upper floor, about 60 sqm, is the son's floor, in his 20s. The floor was designed as an OPEN SPEACE with a sleeping, bathing, hospitality and study area, from which there is an exit to a balcony of about 60 sqm , Which overlooks the sea.

In order to separate the sleeping area from the bathroom, Horowitz has created a dual-purpose piece of furniture that combines many storage spaces and the audio-video unit.

The furniture is a gray Formica canopy that corresponds with the stone walls.

Similar to the bathroom in the master room, Horowitz also chose to cover the one on the second floor with basalt-like porcelain granite.

The bathroom cabinet is covered with natural granite stone and a Formica facade, which the designer combined in a special composition and they seem to wrap and be absorbed into each other.
