2021-12-07T11:52:52.703Z

After Tiktokrit published the contents of Chanel's calendar which included disappointing surprises from the luxury company, the disappointed customers are angry • "Everyone who bought it went to bed crying" • Chanel responded: "The contents of the calendar are detailed on the company's website"

Smells bad:

The prestigious fashion house Chanel has had a furious attack on the network in the past week, after the special calendar it released for Christmas, known as the "advent calendar" and promised a variety of pampering and unique surprises of the brand, was crowned by many surfers as a joke and disgrace.

The Advent Calendar is a special calendar, counting back the days from early December to Christmas, and usually comes in combination with small and unique surprises.

What started small has become very popular abroad in recent years, with many brands taking care of producing such for their customers.

The design of the panels and the surprises hidden inside are of course the highlight, but the concept is usually the same: 25 windows representing 25 days in a row, each window a different size and each window hides a different surprise, with part of the experience being of course the anticipation and excitement.

Chanel, which this year marked 100 years of their iconic perfume "Number 5", decided to pamper its customers with such a unique calendar, but instead of making buyers happy - the prestigious fashion brand managed to cause a storm.

Whoever started the storm consciously or not, was a tic-tac-toe named Alice Harmon, who bought the $ 825 board, and as usual on social media filmed its opening process, which soon went viral.

Probably not but it's pretty

In a series of millions of views, Harmon, half joking and half disappointed, revealed that many of the calendar's windows, which were supposed to contain luxurious surprises, actually contained rather shabby gifts that included stickers, a keychain, a bookmark, a magnet and a canvas bag with the company logo.

The board, which is usually numbered from one to 24, started counting from Thursday (probably as a tribute to the company’s iconic perfume) and included 27 windows.

Although Harmon ranked the product packaging as ten out of ten, revealing that among the many disappointing items one could still find some more worthwhile items, like scaled-down packaging of hand cream, lipstick and perfume, the outrage on social media was great when many surfers came out against the exorbitant price. While Harmon herself calls the board a "joke."

"It looked like someone had raided the closets in their offices and was just looking to get rid of all these things," a surfer wrote.

"Everyone who bought it went to bed crying," another surfer added, adding that "it's like the samples they hand out for free all the time."

After the storm that Harmon caused with her video series, which as mentioned has garnered millions of views and led to a series of response videos from other surfers, a rumor began to spread on the network that the brand had deleted its ticketing account.

Despite denials from company officials, it appears that the company's account has indeed been neutralized and is now listed as private with zero followers and followers.

"The account was never active, no content was uploaded and it had no followers. That's why it seemed inactive," company officials said.

They added that they were aware of the storm that had formed around the calendar, and said that they were Egypt for the sense of disappointment that might have been created among some of its customers.

On the other hand, a spokesman for the company said that "the contents of the board are detailed on the company's website and have never been hidden from buyers."

Despite this, surfers have not yet calmed down from the storm, and even days after Harmon's viral videos exploded, they continue to react with ridicule and rage to the posts uploaded on Chanel's Instagram account, which has 47.6 million followers.
