11 years since the Carmel disaster: "The spirit and courage that were demonstrated then still exist in full force today"
At the memorial service for the victims of the disaster, Minister Bar-Lev thanked all those serving in the three bodies of the Ministry of the Interior.
He and his deputy, the IPS commissioner, the commissioner, the fire and rescue commissioner and the bereaved families were present at the ceremony.

The 11th memorial service for the victims of the Carmel disaster took place today (Tuesday), at the Carmel Memorial.
The ceremony was attended by Minister of Internal Security Amar Bar-Lev, Deputy Minister of Internal Security Yoav Saglovitz, IPS Commissioner Rabbi Gondar Kati Perry, Commissioner General Yaakov Shabtai, Fire and Rescue Commissioner Rabbi Tafser Dedi Simchi and the bereaved families.
"Only in extreme events like the same fire in Carmel, we remember that we have tens of thousands of people here who it is not only their duty, who often protect us physically, but also, their personal mission, to make sure each and every one of us lives safely," Bar-Lev said at the ceremony.

"I want to take this opportunity to say to every prison guard in the prison service, to every fighter and firefighter in the National Fire and Rescue Authority and to every police officer in the Israel Police and the Border Police - thank you!", Bar-Lev said.
"In my six months as Minister of Internal Security, I witnessed one thing more powerful than all - this spirit and the courage demonstrated right here in those days still exist in full force among the three bodies of the Ministry of Internal Security."

During the ceremony, personal meetings were screened with the families of five of the victims of the disaster: Mishar Ias Sarhan, Mishar Hagai Panker, Lt. Gen. Ahuva Tomer, Rabbi Kabri Uri Samandiev and Lt. Col. Rafael (Rafi) Alkalay.
He also performed at the singing ceremony Shlomi Shabbat, who dedicated two of his songs in memory of the martyrs and their families.
At the end of the ceremony, representatives of the bereaved families accompanied the laying of wreaths near the monument.
