With the participation of about 50 children and young people with disabilities, the Association of Orphans with Disabilities, in cooperation with the Directorate of Social Affairs and Labor and the Union of Charitable Societies, held a celebration on the occasion of the International Day of the Disabled, entitled “With hope and work, we rise together on the stage of the Artists Syndicate in Aleppo.”

The celebration included a choir, a theatrical scene, artistic dance performances, fashion shows and poems recited by children with disabilities, and honoring the distinguished disabled and the organizations supporting charitable work in Aleppo.

Salih Barakat, Director of Social Affairs and Labor, said in a statement to SANA reporter that the celebration confirms the importance of the role of the disabled in society and enhances the self-confidence of this group, indicating that five special institutes have been allocated for them in Aleppo and health care is provided to them.

Abdul Qader, Secretary-General of the Disability Sub-Council in Aleppo, explained the importance of securing a suitable environment for people with disabilities to upgrade their abilities through training, rehabilitation and education to be effective members of society, pointing out that the celebration included various types of visual and motor disabilities and Down syndrome for both children and youth groups.

Engineer Haitham Sabbagh, head of the Union of Charitable Societies, indicated that there are about 14 associations in Aleppo that deal with various disabilities and work to provide the necessary care and support to improve the educational and professional capabilities of people with disabilities.

Fatima Babli, Director-General of Al-Rajaa Association for People with Special Needs, indicated that people with disabilities participating in the celebration are those with strong will and distinguished skills, who are determined to be a model of determination and determination to participate with their normal peers in society by standing on the stage and presenting artistic performances.
