David Neal Cox was executed in November in Mississippi for taking the life of his wife, but he was hiding another secret that could finally offer a family rest.

Two days after being tied to a stretcher and executed with the lethal injection, a Mississippi man confessed, in a handwritten letter that his lawyers delivered to the Tupelo district attorney, a crime that had gone 14 years without answer.

Daavid Neal Cox, 50, was sentenced to death for the murder of his wife, but also said he had also killed his sister-in-law, Felicia Cox, and detailed the place where he buried her body, as announced Monday prosecutor John Weddle at a press conference reported by The Washington Post newspaper.

"We would like to underline that the location of Felicia Cox's remains is not an obvious conclusion," Weddl said, "we are hopeful that the information is accurate and that efforts are successful so that Felicia's family can give her a proper burial. ".

Weddl added that police hope to find the body in the "next few days."

Cox was executed on November 17.

In 2012, he pleaded guilty to having murdered his wife, Kim Kirk Cox, from whom he was separated, and to other charges that included

sexual assault on his stepdaughter,

according to the aforementioned newspaper.

After being convicted, the man gave up all appeals and, in a letter to the Mississippi Supreme Court, said he was "worth dying."

"I am seeking to be executed," he wrote in 2018, "please grant me this request."

Lindsey Kirk, her stepdaughter, told The Associated Press news agency that Cox used methamphetamine and

sexually assaulted her "for years

.

"

In 2009, he told his mother about the abuse and she called the police.

Cox was arrested and faced various charges;

among them, rape, child abuse and sexual assault.

In April 2010, Cox was released from jail on bail to await his trial.

His 40-year-old wife filed a restraining order and moved with their three children to her sister's home, but Cox fired through her sister-in-law's screen door and broke into the home, according to court documents.

He then shot his wife in the arm and abdomen, and

sexually assaulted Lindsey, then 12, in front of her dying mother three times.
