Another loss of beds: Pension Schönblick in Schliersee is to be converted into a residential building

Schliersee - Mathias Schrön regrets this loss not only in his function as Schliersee's guest information manager.

With the Hütters, who ran the Pension Schönblick until a few weeks ago, a host couple leaves the market town, with whom Schrön had a downright close relationship.

To say goodbye, Monika and Peter Hütter stopped by the guest information desk again.

“I was very pleased,” says Schrön.

To say goodbye "in a very small circle" there was a gift basket for the many years of "excellent cooperation".

The guardians said goodbye for reasons of age.

Finding a successor to run the Pension Schönblick did not work out.

The building, says Mayor Franz Schnitzenbaumer, was "always kept in good shape".

Nevertheless, a new operator would have had to invest a lot.

Farewell for reasons of age

The new owner of the property on Bammerweg meanwhile has other plans than tourist use.

He wants to build apartments - and as it is nowadays, as many as possible.

With a first preliminary inquiry to the municipality, however, the investor failed.

The members of the building committee did not like the large single-family house and underground car park.

They demand reduced building dimensions and, on top of that, that the southern building line is not exceeded.

Accordingly, since there are currently no public meetings (we reported), Schnitzenbaumer issued an urgent order to the preliminary request, as he communicated on request.

The mayor explains that there is little to be said against residential developments at this point.

The topic will almost certainly turn up again in the building committee pretty soon, because apartments in this location can certainly be marketed very well.

Because the pension was not wrongly named Schönblick.

Little replacement in the pipeline

For Schliersee, meanwhile, the closure means: Again fewer guest beds.

17, according to the current host list, has the Schönblick.

Not a really big house, but Schrön repeatedly points out the importance of family businesses like the Pension Schönblick.

Schliersee has lost many of them over the years.

Schrön roughly estimates the number of guest beds in Schliersee at around 3700 at the moment. At weddings it was over 5000.

This turns out to be a problem, especially in summer, because Schliersee is fully booked.

Schrön's call for new beds, especially in a large house - for many years an integral part of his reports in the municipal council - fades away unfulfilled.

Local politicians cannot build hotels themselves, but rely on investors.

Ironically, Mayor Schnitzenbaumer is in a sense an exception.

His current wife built the s'Quartier guest house on Schliersee in Fischhausen.

The Alperie holiday home, which was completely refurbished in 2020, also provided beds.

Otherwise, only the Vitalresort on Stolzenbergstrasse is currently in the pipeline.

And as reported, the project planner repeatedly encounters new hurdles during implementation.

All the more painful for the Schliersee tourism location is a closure like that of Pension Schönblick.
