The Secretary of the Interior of the state of Puebla, Ana Lucía Hill, reported in a press conference that this Monday at least six people died - including two minors - after the explosion of a powder magazine in the municipality of Santiago Tenango.

The Secretary of State for Health, José Antonio Martínez, pointed out that two people remain hospitalized: a 13-year-old girl with a serious report of second-degree burns and another 16-year-old girl.

Martínez added that nine people were treated at the scene who did not require hospitalization.

The governor of Puebla, Miguel Barbosa, indicated that the events occurred in an unauthorized place that operated in hiding.

"This pyrotechnics is produced in clandestine workshops that, when they are already prepared, are put up for sale in the streets, in municipal markets. We have to have control of that," said the official.

Barbosa pointed out that there are no people detained, but that the State Attorney General's Office has already opened an investigation.

"We have to act very quickly and efficiently, we cannot just sit around seeing how this season, when more of this activity occurs in these clandestine places ... these tragedies continue to occur," said the governor.
