Due to a confrontation between drivers: A man and a woman from Ashkelon were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder on Road 6

A man and a woman, residents of Ashkelon in their 20s and 30s, were arrested last night (Tuesday) on suspicion of attempting to murder a man on Road 6. The two were involved in a confrontation that developed between drivers on the road, when suddenly the suspect, known as a member of one of the crime gangs in the area, opened fire.

The suspect escaped, and was located by the police together with the woman near Kiryat Gat.

"During the night, the police forces were called from Kiryat Gat station to Road 6 near the Kiryat Gat interchange following a driver's report of a shooting fired at him by another driver who fled the scene," the police statement said.

"The forces that met the victim noticed signs of gunfire on his vehicle and also located the location where the shooting took place and collected evidence and findings."

The police said that the background to the incident was criminal, and the suspects in the attempted murder are being investigated at the Kiryat Gat station.

Later in the day, they will be brought before the Ashkelon Magistrate's Court for a hearing on the police's request to extend their detention.
