US President Joe Biden today (Tuesday) warned the Russian president that Washington and its allies would respond with strong economic and other measures if their country invaded Ukraine, the White House said at the end of the two-hour video call.
According to the announcement, "President Biden has expressed the deep concern of the United States and its European allies against the escalation of the Russian forces surrounding Ukraine and he has made it clear that the United States and our allies will respond with strong economic and other measures in the event of military escalation."
It was also reported that Biden had expressed his support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity and called for a halt to escalation and a return to diplomacy.
In addition, the two discussed the issue of strategic stability between the two powers, cyber attacks and nuclear talks with Iran.
