At around 11:45 p.m. that night, a powerful SUV (Porsche Cayenne) was driving down the avenue at high speed, before hitting the rear of two vehicles which were side by side, in front of a red light at rue Pierre-Charron, as detailed in Actu17 and ActuParis. It was a Renault Talisman driven by a VTC driver, and a vehicle of the public order and traffic department of the Paris Police Prefecture. The driver would have tried to turn around, hitting road equipment before abandoning his vehicle. It was carrying two passengers. An amateur video, unauthenticated, seems to indicate that the driver tried to run away before being stopped by police officers:

Ten injured are to be deplored.

Two VTC customers, from Saudi Arabia, are said to have suffered from a fractured femur, the other from a left flank injury.

The driver, also injured, was also taken to hospital.

Four police officers were also taken for medical examinations following various shocks.

Finally, the driver and his two passengers were also hospitalized.

The first will enter police custody as soon as his state of health permits.
