District - A 44-year-old bus driver from Munich is likely to keep yesterday's St. Nicholas Day in not so good memories for a little longer.
At around 6.40 a.m., he was driving his MVV bus on Münchener Straße in Gauting, coming from the main square in the direction of Buchendorferstraße. At the bus stop at 6 Münchener Strasse, he then rammed his bus into the roof of the bus stop mentioned. In the process, the glass pane of the roof installed there was destroyed and the associated frame of the bus stop was significantly bent. The total damage to the said bus stop is estimated at around 4,000 euros.
The driver then reported the damage to his bus company, which is based in Friedberg, but not to the local police inspection or to the municipality of Gauting, which has to take care of the repair of the battered bus stop.
The municipality in turn reported the damage to the Gauting police at around 2:30 p.m. Further police investigations at the bus company concerned revealed that the bus was also significantly damaged by the collision.
For example, a window behind the middle entrance door was completely vented and the area above the aforementioned entrance door was also significantly damaged, so that a total damage to the bus of around 5000 euros can be assumed.
Proceedings are now being initiated against the 44-year-old bus driver for fleeing an accident.
