The Damascus Transport Directorate registered two thousand modern cars and completed about 328,000 different transactions during the current year.

The Director of Transport, Eng. Mamdouh Al-Alan, confirmed in a statement to SANA that the process of networking between the transport directorates in the governorates has brought about a qualitative leap, as citizens can conduct their transactions in any governorate.

Al-Alan also pointed out that the network connection with the Ministry of Interior for clearance has saved citizens time and effort.

Regarding the technical examination, Al-Alan referred to the activation of the special centers for vehicle inspection, where there are more than three centers in Damascus and its countryside, indicating that the Ministry of Transport launched two months ago the feature of renewing the electronic license through a mobile application, which saves the time and effort required to review the transport directorates to pay the fees.

According to Al-Alan, since the beginning of this year, the Damascus Transport Directorate has completed about 328,000 different transactions, with a fee of 57 billion pounds, and registered more than 2,000 modern cars, bringing the number of registered vehicles to about 547,000 vehicles so far.

SANA monitored the work in the directorate, where Eng. Youssef Murad stated that the citizen does not wait more than a quarter of an hour to start completing his transaction at the one window, while Maysa Muhammad mentioned that the new work program is quick and easy, as the process of registering the title deed does not take two minutes, for example.

Among the reviewers, Ahmed Qaddoumi said that thanks to the network connection and electronic payment, he received his new license plate within half an hour, indicating that the car’s vacuum treatment for another governorate took more time and had to travel to that governorate, but the automation saved time and effort.

A year ago, the Ministry of Transport announced the completion of the electronic linking project for the directorates and departments of transport in all governorates to make them all automated and with one database. The project also links a number of ministries and agencies concerned with vehicle transactions, such as the Ministry of Interior, Finance and Social Security, and provides an electronic payment service.
