Since November 8 and after more than eighteen months of closure, the United States has reopened its borders and authorized the arrival of travelers coming in particular from the 26 European countries of the Schengen area, including France.

What vaccines are accepted?

For travelers arriving by air, the United States requires, in addition to

proof of vaccination

and a

negative test within 24 hours

, the establishment by the airlines of a system of contact tracing. .

From January 2022, the vaccination obligation will apply to all visitors crossing land borders, regardless of their reason for entry.

US health authorities have also indicated that

all vaccines

approved by the World Health Organization will be accepted.

For the moment, these are the vaccines AstraZeneca, Johnson & Johnson, Moderna, Pfizer / BioNTech, Sinopharm and Sinovac.

What are the formalities for French tourists?

Anyone wishing to fly to the United States must prove that they have been

fully vaccinated.

Since December 6, it is necessary to present in addition on arrival the result of a negative PCR or antigen test

of less than 24 hours

. French people aged 2 or over traveling to the United States must present the result of a

negative Covid-19 screening test

carried out in the

three calendar days preceding the flight

upon boarding

. These measures also apply in the event of simple transit through American territory.

In addition, a

certificate must be completed

and presented when boarding: Passenger Disclosure and Attestation to the United States of America

Passengers who have already tested positive for Covid-19 and able to present a positive test result accompanied by a letter drawn up by a health professional attesting to their capacity to travel may be exempted from this obligation to test.

As noted above, US health officials will accept all vaccines approved by the World Health Organization.
