Beauty queens from all over the world are visiting Israel these days and are preparing for the "Miss Universe" ceremony that will take place next week in Eilat.
The participants travel from event to event and participate in quite a few festive evenings and meals in restaurants, but how does all this work out when in a few days they are expected to walk in a swimsuit on the runway in front of millions of spectators?
The participants of the competition came to the "Modern" restaurant in Jerusalem for (another) festive event and we put our hands on the menu, which was carefully selected for them and matched with the restaurant's chef.
For starters, the queens asked for glasses of Jerusalem artichoke soup, chestnuts and hot espresso with almond twill.
In addition, they also asked for and received hot Jerusalem prana bread with tomato dip, olive oil and Atlantic salt.

As befits Jerusalem cuisine, the queens also received tapas trays with homemade vine leaves, fennel salad with citrus and celery, sun tomatoes with tehini Har Bracha and pickled lemon, quinoa salad, green apples, almonds, herbs and berries, smoked campfire on root cream, antipasti Grilled vegetables.

In the main course they enjoyed a slightly different sabih, meaning disassembled on a plate instead of pita, in a puri stuffed with salmon ceviche with mango, coriander and chili and a fish cigar with tomato salsa.
Contrary to stereotypes and stigmas about models and beauty queens, the meal also had quite a few desserts.
The queens won a dessert table with a "Queen Gambit" installation, a liquid nitrogen show by the restaurant chef and a central chessboard-like dessert table with black and white desserts.
