Findings from South Africa: The omicron partially overcomes the vaccine Israel today

An experiment conducted by the South African Institute of Health shows that Pfizer's vaccine is partially effective against the new variant • Anthony Pauchi: "It seems that the disease from the omicron is less severe than that of the Delta"

A study by the International Health Institute of South Africa revealed today (Tuesday) that the omicron variant of the corona virus is at least to some extent resistant to the vaccine of the American pharmaceutical company Pfizer, the American Bloomberg network reported.

According to the findings, the variant's ability to evade antibodies of the vaccine is incomplete and booster injections may prove to provide additional protection.

Despite the growing prevalence of coronavirus virus omicron variant, a tentative sedative siren arrived from the U.S. yesterday when President Biden's senior adviser on medical matters that initial studies on him show "almost certainly no more dangerous" than the Delta variant. Its ability to develop into a dangerous symptomatic disease in carriers.

"If you look at the follow-ups that are done in South Africa, you see that the ratio between the infections and the hospitalizations is lower than the ratio that was with the Delta variant," he said.

However, he warned that the information so far may be based too much on infection among young people, who are not considered at risk.

"In the worst case scenario, the variant will not only be more contagious but also cause more severe morbidity and then there will be another wave of infection that the vaccines or natural immunity provided by the body from a previous infection can not necessarily stop."

As mentioned, the Omicron is particularly contagious because of its large amount of mutations - twice as much as the Delta - and a study published on Monday further validates the claim that those who have recovered and not been vaccinated - meaning they have antibodies produced by the body - are particularly vulnerable.

The study found that the risk of recovering from it is three times greater than the risk posed by the Delta, at least in South Africa, where the study was conducted and where the variant is the dominant strain.

Meanwhile, a study published on Monday found that a combination of several types of vaccines for corona probably gives better protection than a two-dose vaccine from the same vaccine.

In the Lancet Journal, British researchers claim that the analysis of the data shows that vaccinators who received the first dose of Astraznica and the second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine showed better results than those who received the two doses of Astraznica.

Even vaccinators who received a first dose of "Pfizer" and then a second dose of "Moderna" showed a better immune response than those who received two doses of "Pfizer."

"The immune response was noticeable laterally and in fact higher [than those who received two identical doses of Astraznica]," said Matthew Snape, lead researcher in the study in question.
