Moscow - Sana

First Deputy Chairman of the Russian Federation Council International Affairs Committee Vladimir Jabarov said that "the summit of Russian Presidents Vladimir Putin and US Joe Biden cannot be considered a breakthrough in the normalization efforts."

Jabarov ruled out the possibility of any decisions leading to a détente in relations, considering at the same time that the negotiations give hope for launching a constructive dialogue, adding, "Let's hope that Biden reassures his allies that everything is fine, as they maintain their positions."

Jabarov pointed out that confrontation is not required from both the American and Russian sides.

The Russian president called on his US counterpart during the talks earlier today not to blame Russia for the situation around Ukraine, calling on the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) to provide security guarantees not to expand the alliance to the east.
