The National Unit for Combating Economic Crime in Blade 433 today (Tuesday) arrested four suspects for counterfeiting hundreds of coins of Israeli money.

In recent months, an undercover investigation has been conducted at the National Unit for Combating Economic Crime (YALK) in Lahav 433 in cooperation with a fraud unit in the Southern District, in which investigative materials were collected .


It is suspected that the owner of a workshop in Ashdod, apparently averted with another three suspects in the workshop lab to fake silver coins Israel, in order to generate economic benefits by distributing free-market currencies.

In addition to the suspicions, it emerged that the criminal activity was carried out through the bank accounts of one of the suspects, who allegedly committed money laundering offenses amounting to more than NIS 5 million.

With the move to an open investigation, detectives and YALK investigators, together with Lachish forensic police and representatives of the Bank of Israel's currency department, raided the workshop, seizing dozens of NIS 5 and 10 coins in bulk, raw materials, engravings and modern machines that were apparently used for forgery. During the raid, the police arrested two suspects who were engaged in the production of the coins at the time and even searching the homes of some of the suspects, counterfeit coins were seized.

Following the interrogation of the four suspects for issuing a counterfeit coin, conspiracy to commit a crime, installing or holding a counterfeit device, receiving anything fraudulently, tax offenses and money laundering, they were brought this morning for a hearing to extend their detention at the Rishon Lezion Magistrate's Court. Three suspects until 9.12 and another suspect until 8.12.

The Bank of Israel responded: "The Bank of Israel congratulates the Israel Police and the economic unit in Blade 433 on the successful operation that greatly helps the war on the currency counterfeiting phenomenon.
