According to an Elabe * poll for L'Express and BFMTV, Valérie Pécresse - just invested by The Republicans at the end of their congress - is given the winner of the presidential election against Emmanuel Macron.
In nearly five years, only Xavier Bertrand had succeeded in placing himself on the right in such a position.

Three days after her designation by the militants, Valérie Pécresse continues her breakthrough in the polls.
On Monday, an Ifop-Fiducial study carried out for
Le Figaro
and LCI first placed the president of Île-de-France at 17% of the vote, tied with Marine Le Pen and therefore at the gates of the second round.

This time, the candidate would qualify for the second round.
With 20% of the voting intentions, an increase of 11 points, it breaks the often announced duel between Marine Le Pen (15%) and Emmanuel Macron (23%, -2 points).
The contender of the National Rally suffers for her part from a drop of five points - compared to the last study of November 24 -, while Eric Zemmour (14%) takes one, after his meeting in Villepinte on Sunday latest.

Above all, Valérie Pécresse records an unprecedented score in the second round: with 52%, the candidate would win against the head of state, yet given favorite since his election.
Last September, an Ifop-Fiducial study had already suggested a showdown between the two contenders, each given 50%.
The former minister, however, did not have the necessary score to qualify in the second round, and the gap then widened in favor of Emmanuel Macron.
As for Xavier Bertrand, the elected representative of Hauts-de-France has long been the only right-wing candidate to be given the capacity to beat the tenant of the Élysée Palace.
Before being, too, preceded by the latter.
