Spain approves vaccines against covid-19 for children from 5 to 11 years old

The Public Health Commission of Spain approved this Tuesday the vaccine against covid-19 for children between 5 and 11 years old, a few days after the Minister of Health said that more than three million of doses of vaccines for children.

The press office of the Ministry of Health confirmed that the health commission, which is part of the national health system and has experts from all regions of Spain, approved vaccines for children up to 5 years of age.

The Minister of Health, Carolina Darias, said in a press conference last Thursday that this month 1.3 million doses of vaccines for children should reach Spain, and another two million more in January.

Spain has already fully vaccinated 89.4% of the population aged 12 years and over, some 37.6 million Spaniards, according to the latest figures published by the Ministry of Health, last Friday.

Darias said last Thursday that there is a high level of "responsibility among Spaniards who understand that the vaccine is not just a right but an obligation."
