A British study revealed that vaccination with two “different” doses of Corona vaccines gives stronger immunity against the virus.
According to Reuters, researchers at Oxford University explained in their study published in the Lancet medical journal that people who received a first dose of the AstraZeneca or Pfizer-Biontech vaccine and then followed that with a second dose of Moderna vaccine 9 weeks later had a stronger immune response than others.
The study, which included 1,070 volunteers, indicated that if a first dose of AstraZeneca vaccine is obtained, followed by a second dose of Moderna or Novavax, the body produces more antibodies and T cells than those produced by two doses of AstraZeneca vaccine, and getting a first dose of Pfizer vaccine Biontech followed by a second dose of Moderna vaccine gives a better result than the two doses of Pfizer Biontech.
"The study shows that there is no need to strictly adhere to giving the same type of vaccine in the second dose, and if the vaccination process will take place faster with the use of different vaccines, there is nothing wrong with that," said Oxford University professor Matthew Snabe.
The results of the study give hope to poor and middle-income countries that may need to give their citizens doses of vaccine produced by different companies in the event of instability or near exhaustion of their supplies of vaccines.
