Damascus-SANA

Khan Al-Masrat novel by writer Salah Maati goes back to ancient times, drawing its material from history through a series of events that take place in the Mamluk era in Egypt and the Levant.

Although the novel is primarily historical, it combines reality and imagination to present realistic cases that correspond to historical logic. The author also uses the method of emotional excitement in narrating events through the movement of the characters of the novel and its heroes to reveal cases of injustice, pain and groaning as a result of the foreign invasion through the personality of Jalal al-Din and Sheikh Al-Mahmudi and their escape from prison and linking these stories to facts that the Arabs were exposed to in the absence of their history In Bilad al-Sham, Maati refers in his novel to the refusal of the sons of Syria and Egypt to humiliation and shame and their insistence on putting an end to the Mongols, illustrating the intimate interaction between the two peoples and the extent of the strength of the ties and relations between them in a spontaneous manner without the pretense of Khan Al-Masrat, which included inmates from different Arab countries, through which the author wantedTo symbolize the meeting of the Arabs. That is why he finished the chapters of his novel in which he depicted the atmosphere of happiness and joy by defeating the Mongols, following the development of events in his novel and its movement and the escalation of its graphic line so that the subject was a balanced basis in the novel by moving appropriate characters in the environment.

The novel, which is located in 203 of the publications of Dar Akl for Publishing, Studies and Translation, provided a historical balance in the world of the contemporary novel, in violation of what is familiar in the fictional work, to add a new revelation to history.

The researcher and publisher translator Abeer Akl saw that the work on publishing the novel does not provide any service to knowledge unless it reinforces the Arab cultural structure in the face of cultural invasion, which confirms the necessity of recalling our history and its events because they are repeated in different forms in order to draw lessons from them, and this is what Khan Al-Masrat’s novel did.

It is noteworthy that the writer Salah Maati has more than 42 novels and books in different genres and has won 13 literary prizes and has eight books in print.
