The American Wall Street Journal considered that the economic crisis that Turkey is witnessing at the present time and the accompanying financial turmoil are great and different from the past due to the state of ferment and popular anger.
The newspaper explained in an analysis entitled “Economic turmoil in Turkey causes despair and increases inflation” that the economic disintegration in Turkey led to an increase in the number of poor and the economic boom that the country witnessed turned into a financial crisis as people lined up to get discounted bread and flee to Europe for a better life.
The newspaper pointed out that the Turkish lira has depreciated by 45 percent this year, which has made Turks poorer, while high inflation points to a serious economic problem.
The newspaper pointed out that the current crisis is different from what preceded it in Turkey due to the state of popular anger against the failed financial policies of the Turkish regime, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and his interventions in the central bank.
Tens of thousands of Turks demonstrated last month, calling for the government's resignation, after the deteriorating economic situation and the fall of the Turkish lira as a result of Erdogan's policies.
