The European Union is ready to adopt additional sanctions against Russia in the event of further aggression against Ukraine, announced Tuesday (December 7th) the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.

The EU will respond appropriately to any further aggression, including violations of international law and any other malicious action taken against us or our neighbors, including Ukraine,
” Ms. von der Leyen said in a statement made in videoconference to ambassadors of EU countries.
“
This response will take the form of a solid strengthening and extension of existing sanctions regimes.
And on top of that, we are ready to take further restrictive measures
, ”she added.
