During a course on “scientific socialism”, compulsory education in communist Romania before 1989, the professor, a Party activist, learnedly explained to us how communism was going to defeat capitalism and impose itself on the whole planet.

Because, he said, - and that was one of his strongest arguments - people believe the world can be a better place.

This is what communism promises.

At the time, this nonsense made me laugh and disgust that I tried to hide.

Because the Party "teacher" had a heavy hand and didn't hesitate to prove it to us.

We were at the end of the 1980s, the country was sinking into misery and shortages, the end was near, we could feel it, and the "teacher" was talking to us about the sustainability of communism!
