25 external cyber attacks during the State Duma elections

Moscow, SANA- A member of the Russian Central Elections Committee, Igor Borisov, announced that the committee’s platforms were subjected to 25 attacks

A member of the Russian Central Elections Committee, Igor Borisov, announced that the committee's platforms were exposed to 25 foreign cyber attacks during the State Duma elections last September.

Sputnik news agency quoted Borisov as saying today, “In the last week of the elections from the 16th to the 21st of last September, we recorded 25 cyber attacks from abroad,” noting that 13 of them were aimed at identifying potential vulnerabilities in the commission’s websites and 9 aimed at replacing programs while 3 other attacks attempted to provoke a denial of service for Commission resources.”

The elections to the State Duma for the eighth session were held over a period of 3 days last September, and in conjunction with it on one voting day, direct elections were held for the heads of 9 entities and 39 regional parliaments in the country.
