The meeting of the Ministerial Committee in charge of tracking the implementation rates of service projects in Homs governorate today focused on the projects implemented during the second half of this year in the governorate, including the data bank, rural development maps and administrative units. The meeting, which was held in the building of the General Secretariat of Homs Governorate, in the presence of directors of service institutions and members of the Executive Office, came after a tour of the committee, during which it was briefed on the reality of work in a number of service projects in the governorate.

In a statement to reporters after the meeting between the Committee Chairman and Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Bassam Ibrahim, the projects will be followed up and the difficulties they encounter will be overcome, explaining that the indicators indicate a good implementation of the plan, as some projects have been fully implemented and some by 50 percent due to their need for contract annexes.

He stressed that work will be done to increase the governorate's allocations of electricity as much as possible, and that a topographical survey of the land allocated for the implementation of alternative energy projects in the industrial city of Hasya was conducted, and the land was divided into partitions for the investors' initiative to advance. 10 megawatts, and these projects will be encouraged and facilitated.

With regard to the treatment plant in the industrial city of Hassia, Minister Ibrahim confirmed that the necessary tests and treatment will be conducted for the water collected from factories and laboratories for use in crop irrigation.

In turn, the Minister of Water Resources, Dr. Tammam Raad, stated that the ministry implemented a number of projects in the irrigation sector during the current year, and a few days ago a contract was signed with the General Company for Water Projects to rehabilitate some damaged canals in the Homs-Hama irrigation network, in addition to the announcement by the General Authority for Water Resources about Rehabilitation of 4 wells irrigating the two villages with an area of ​​300 hectares.

Minister Raad indicated that the ministry is currently working on completing the sewage treatment plant in the village of Abu Houri, which will be put into service at the beginning of next year, in addition to the sewage project in the Al-Waleed suburb, indicating that several drinking water projects have been implemented in the governorate, including the construction of new wells and the rehabilitation of a number of them. Work is in the final stages of the project to irrigate the villages of Sukrah, with an estimated cost of one billion and 600 million pounds, of which 900 million pounds have been spent to date.

He pointed out that coordination was coordinated between the Ministries of Electricity and Water Resources to exempt a number of stations and wells from electrical rationing, and the ministry directed a new plan to put alternative energy projects on some wells, and the Supreme Council for Economic and Social Planning approved monitoring 10 percent of the plan of all water institutions to transform the locations of some wells. The necessary and distant alternative energy and the provision of continuous energy for it.

The Governor of Homs, Engineer Bassam Parsik, indicated that the meeting aims to follow up on the projects whose credits were monitored after the session of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers that was held in Homs Governorate in 2019, and to follow up on the investment budget, during which the focus was on the data bank, the rural development map and the rehabilitation of infrastructure in the town of Sukhna in preparation for the return of the people for the city.

The committee’s tour that preceded the meeting included reviewing the reality of work in a number of projects, such as the project of the Renewable Energy Company in the industrial city of Hasya, the sewage treatment plant in the city, the project to rehabilitate and maintain the damaged parts of the Houla irrigation project, west of Homs, and the Al-Bayada telephone exchange.

In statements to SANA’s reporter during the tour, Engineer Samer Jansiz, director of the sewage treatment plant in Hasya, explained that it was put into service during the current year and treats 5,500 cubic meters of sewage and industrial waste in the city. Rabia Valley.
