The defendants were monitored by the General Directorate of Internal Security (DGSI) following recent exchanges on the internet in which they spoke of a violent knife attack planned by Christmas in the name of Islam, reports

They planned to target a place particularly frequented during the holiday season, such as a shopping center or shopping streets.

The accused, both aged 23, were arrested in Meaux (Seine-et-Marne) and Pecq (Yvelines) by DGSI agents on November 29, then indicted for "
