Damascus - Sana

Twenty years of exile, the poet Ashjan Al-Shaarani increased her adherence to her roots, originality and love for her homeland, to deliver her message in the classical Arabic language in all her literary writings.

In an interview with SANA, Al-Shaarani said, “I write well-balanced poetry, and I was not affected by otherwise, because my mother trained me on the authentic balanced, and alienation was an incentive and refinement of what I possessed, and I remained preserving what I learned in my childhood and youth, and what I acquired was a culture that increased me with other experiences in addition to Arabic.”

She added that the first thing that was published, I wrote a poem on the abundant sea, and it was for the teacher, and I published it in the Tishreen newspaper, and I kept it at the university during my participation in literary activities.

Al-Shaarani continued, despite the alienation, the classical was important to me, and I learned other languages, such as German, and I write poetry in them, but the classical has the most strong appreciation and presence, and I do not accept anything else.

Al-Shaarani explained that no poetry or literature can compete with Arabic and its literature, as it is the most important and there is no objection to translating it and working to make it known to others, and I will continue to preserve my language because it absorbs all that I have, and it is the most capable, and it is the origin, love, childhood and belonging.

Al-Shaarani said: I have seen the original poetry and read everyone and focused on Al-Mutanabi and Nizar Qabbani, especially that Nizar is bold and raises the difficulties in our society and expresses the aspirations of others and what is inside them.

Al-Shaarani saw that what he writes today does not reach the level of the past, and there are those who do not differentiate between the thought and the poem, and there are other literary faces that can take their names, and poetry has its own privacy, components and foundations for its construction, and this has been greatly regressed.

Al-Shaarani indicated that criticism did not take a real role and was limited to personal tendencies that have nothing to do with artistic construction and literary genre, which helped in the decline of the literary movement because the role of criticism is pivotal and important, so its role must return.

The poet Al-Shaarani indicated that the poem is not measured by its large size, as it is necessary to focus on the technicalities of the poetic text, and there is no objection to shortening and limiting it to a small size if it serves the purpose.

Al-Shaarani concluded by saying most of what I wrote for the homeland, so Damascus was one of the priorities of my writing, and this is the most important thing that a poet should have, as well as emotional poetry and spinning because it has a role in the life of society and our lives all.

It is noteworthy that the poet Ashjan Al-Shaarani is an architect and specialist in child and family science, and among her writings in poetry are miniatures on a Damascene palm and naked drums for Aphrodite.
