"Lunch brother" applied to the High Court for bail today. After hearing the submissions, Judge Chen Zhongheng approved Li bail. The bail conditions include not to violate the gathering restriction order.
The defendant Li Guoyong (19 years old) was charged with a case of participating in a prohibited group gathering, alleging that he violated the gathering restriction order in the International Finance Center (IFC) in Central on April 28, 2020.
The case was sentenced in the Kowloon City Magistracy on the 16th of this month.
After hearing the submissions, the judge approved the defendant’s bail of 2,000 yuan, and the defendant’s mother signed 50,000 yuan as a personal guarantee.
In addition, the defendant must not leave Hong Kong during the bail period, must not violate the gathering restriction order, and conduct follow-up meetings with psychiatrists and social workers, including probation officers.
After the defendant was released on bail, he said: "I understand, I am willing," "I have already reflected on it," etc., but some relatives and friends of the girl in court cried bitterly.
