Most of the new members of the government were chauffeured to Bellevue Palace in limousines when they were appointed - and then back to the Bundestag by car.
The new Federal Minister of Agriculture, Cem Özdemir, made an exception: Despite the icy temperatures, the Green politician drove to the Federal President's seat on an e-bike, wearing a helmet and a blue winter jacket over his black suit.
After the ceremony at Steinmeier, the Green politician got on his bike again.
He stowed the certificate of appointment on the porter.

Despite his means of transport, Özdemir did not have a disadvantage in terms of time compared to his cabinet colleagues: A few minutes after leaving Bellevue Palace, he was seen chaining his bicycle in front of the Bundestag.
The distance between the official residence of the Federal President and the Bundestag is around 1.5 kilometers.
Özdemir is one of 16 ministers in the new traffic light government.
The Federal Cabinet was sworn in in the Bundestag that afternoon.
At the request of Parliamentary President Bärbel Bas (SPD), the ministers swore that they would "dedicate their energies to the welfare of the German people."
Bas expressed his best wishes to the members of the government "personally and also on behalf of the House for the tasks they have taken on".
