China: Beijing lectures America, "a sick democracy"

China has carefully prepared the Joe Biden Democracy Summit, of which it is a deliberate target. The authoritarian regime ruled with an iron fist by the Communist Party since 1949 has rejected outright the lessons of the American president, to assert itself as a

"democracy"

in its own right, praising the efficiency of its system, while riding on its diligent management of the pandemic.

"China, a democracy that works",

proclaims boldly a white paper published a few days before the virtual summit convened by Biden on December 9 and 10, which aims to rally the capitals against the authoritarian regimes of the planet, and to which representatives of Taiwan has even been invited.

"Today, the light of democracy illuminates the whole of Chinese territory",

, while President Xi Jinping has further accentuated his hold on the apparatus, at the end of a triumphal Plenum which has consecrated him
