He opened an account in a virtual bank and obtained a rebate for his information. He appeared in West Kowloon Court today (8th) and was postponed until January 19 for further investigation by the police. The defendant applied for bail but was rejected.


The defendant Huang Wenjie (construction worker, 39 years old) was charged with two counts of impersonating a public official, one of obtaining property by deception and one of theft.

The charge alleges that the defendant, on November 27, 2021, impersonated a public official, that is, a police officer of the Hong Kong Police Force, at the junction of Fa Yuen Street near Shantung Street, Mongkok, Kowloon, Hong Kong; and used the information of Chen Haoran to apply for'LIVI Bank' by deception. Account in order to obtain a cash rebate of HK$250 and transfer the cash rebate to another unknown account with the intent to permanently deprive the property of Chen Haoran
