The areas planted with winter vegetables in As-Suwayda since the beginning of the current season to date have reached more than 2,270 dunums in various regions of the governorate.
The assistant director of As-Suwayda Agriculture, Eng. Alaa Shehayeb, said in a statement to SANA Economic Center that winter vegetable crops in As-Suwayda include beans, peas, cabbage, cauliflower, garlic, onions and carrots, and the majority of them depend on irrigation through drip irrigation or well water.
Shehayeb pointed out that the plan for planting winter vegetables for the current season amounts to 3450 dunums and was approved according to the appropriate standards and areas for cultivation in the governorate.
Last season, As-Suwayda Governorate produced 3,854 tons of winter vegetables within the cultivated areas, which amounted to 3,790 dunums.
