In statements to SANA's reporter, Head of the Drought and Natural Disasters Fund Branch in Tartous, Dr. Haidar Shaheen, said that a sea dragon hit 3 sites in Baniyas this afternoon as a result of the prevailing weather conditions of heavy rain and winds reaching 80 km per hour.

He pointed out that the sites included the village of Al-Maqbariya in the countryside of Banias and the lands located next to the thermal station in the city of Baniyas and the village of Al-Qulu`, which caused losses in the protected and field crops, noting that the damage sites were directed directly to the sites and the initial damages are currently being counted in the three sites.

The head of Baniyas City Council, Eng. Bashar Hamza, confirmed that no damages have been recorded in the city so far, except for what happened to protected and field crops.

Director of Tartous Electricity Company, Engineer Abdul Hamid Mansour, indicated that no major faults in the electrical network have been recorded so far, but there are some trees falling on the networks or the separation of some lines as a result of flashes and lightning, stressing that the workshops treat the damage as soon as it occurs.
