According to the river's supporters, Haifa Mayor Einat Klish Rotem stated in August that she would treat sewage and the removal of construction waste that flows into the river, but according to them, nothing has been done to date.
In addition, the Ministry of Environmental Protection issued a warning letter to the Haifa Municipality for immediate treatment of the discharge, but it was not stopped.

The Ministry of Environmental Protection issued a warning letter to the Haifa Municipality for immediate treatment of the discharge and gave them a validity until October 15.
Since then the discharge has not been stopped and yesterday and today there is a massive discharge of sewage and industrial effluent, and the municipality does nothing despite the water law and the cleanliness law they pass.
The Kishon River has long been a focus of struggle between the Kishon River Authority and the Israel Ports Company.
In about two weeks, the struggle will reach the doorstep of the Haifa District Planning and Building Committee, which will determine whether the company's request to place the logistics warehouses permanently near the river requires an environmental impact survey.
"We are acting with zero tolerance towards polluters in the river area and will make sure to prosecute those responsible for the pollution," said Sharon Nissim, CEO of the Kishon River Authority. .
