In a conversation with reporters in Qatar, the Turkish president conditioned the warming of relations on measures in favor of the Palestinians • "Israel must be sensitive towards Jerusalem and the al-Aqsa Mosque," he said.

Ankara may repair its relations with Jerusalem if the Israeli government implements concrete measures against the Palestinians, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was quoted as saying today (Wednesday) in a conversation with reporters during his visit to Qatar.

According to a report on the Turkish "Daily Sabah" website, Erdogan said that Turkey could work to warm up relations with Israel and Egypt if the countries take different steps.

Relations with Egypt have deteriorated amid Turkey's support for the Muslim Brotherhood, which has been defined as a terrorist organization in the country since the coup against the Morsi regime.

"Our foreign minister and intelligence service will play an active role in relation to relations with Abu Dhabi," Erdogan said.

"A similar process may happen to Israel as well, why not?"

According to the TRT website, President Erdogan said in a conversation with reporters that he had held talks with Israel in the past, but at this point Israel needs to be more sensitive in relation to its policy towards the Palestinians.

"Israel must be sensitive to Jerusalem and the al-Aqsa Mosque," Arudan said.

"Once we see such consideration, we will do our best to take action. The Israeli side already knows what worries us. We also know what worries Israel. Therefore, we will solve the problem based on the concerns."

The Turkish president is visiting Doha, the capital of Qatar, where he met yesterday with Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani.

The statement comes against the background of the crisis of Israelis detained last month.

The couple who photographed Erdogan's residence were arrested and released only after Erdogan's intervention.

After the return of the Israelis to Israel, President Yitzhak Herzog and Prime Minister Naftali Bennett held talks with the Turkish president.
