Festival of Lights in Lyon: an edition framed by strict sanitary measures

Wearing the compulsory mask, sale of prohibited food and drink, police mobilization ... The demonstration, which takes place until December 11, will be under close surveillance.


Wearing a mask will be compulsory at the Festival of Lights in Lyon, a popular event which should attract more than a million spectators on Wednesday, the regional prefect announced on Tuesday, among other measures strictly framing the event.

health perimeter

", detailed the prefect Pascal Mailhos during a press conference.

While the 2020 edition had been canceled due to the health crisis, "

a huge change

" authorizes that of this year: "

the vaccination

", insisted Mr. Mailhos.

And to recall that "

97.6% of people eligible

" for the vaccine in the Rhône "

have a complete vaccination schedule

".

To avoid “

gatherings

” in this edition which will take place every evening until Saturday, the sale and the itinerant consumption of food and drink will also be prohibited in this perimeter, mainly intersecting the peninsula of the city. A “

closed

restaurant area

with a capacity of 1,500 people and accessible by sanitary pass will however be set up in a square on the left bank of the Rhône. Signage, sound messages and city mediators will also recall "

the need to wear a mask

", added the mayor of Lyon Grégory Doucet, recalling that the Government's Health Defense Council had given the green light to this event "
