The Minister of Defense responded to a question from MK Katie Sheetrit regarding illegal construction in Judea and Samaria and provoked great criticism from the right • Regavim movement director general: "This is Yom Kippur of the Ministry of Defense"

Defense Minister Bnei Gantz provoked an angry reaction on the right this evening (Wednesday) after claiming that a large part of the construction violations in Judea and Samaria stemmed from a lack of planning for the Palestinian population.

Ganz said this in response to a question from MK Katie Sheetrit.

Sheetrit requested the Ministry of Defense's response to the takeover of land in Judea and Samaria, and in response Gantz replied in a letter that: Not licensed for agricultural purposes. '

He later wrote:

"Part of the issue of land takeover is related to the lack of adequate planning for the Palestinian population, so I am working to promote building permits for Palestinians in Area C as well, which are essentially a proper series of existing Palestinian settlement in a way that does not endanger Jewish settlement."

Things raged on the right.

Avichai Boaron, chairman of the Zion and Jerusalem Forum and one of the most prominent evacuees from Amona, said:

It is just like the 'concept' in the Yom Kippur War, but this time the failure of the concept will end in a densely populated Palestinian state and inhabited by a Palestinian-Arab settlement sequence from the Galilee to the Negev through the Jordan Valley and through Jerusalem.

When we wake up it will be too late and no one will be able to turn the wheel back. "

In the Regavim movement, Gantz was sharply attacked, both for the comparison between Israelis and the settlers and for linking the issue of approving the plans to the Palestinian sector in Area C, as a solution to the problem of taking over the land.

Meir Deutsch, director general of the Regavim movement, said in response: "This document shows that the current defense minister has not the slightest hint of a strategic understanding of this event. It is no less than the Yom Kippur of the current defense ministry."

Deutsch adds that "the Minister of Defense's lack of understanding on this matter is no less dangerous for the State of Israel. It is clear to us that this unfortunate document, which reflects a dangerous and promiscuous approach, will form the basis of the future Agranat Committee to investigate how the State of Israel allowed the Palestinian Authority to occupy Israeli territory. "Without firing a single bullet."
