Diplomatic sources reported that the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, put himself in isolation for a few days last night, after he had contact with an official in the international organization, who later turned out to be infected with the Corona virus.
And the French press agency quoted the sources as saying that Guterres, aged 72, has canceled all his attendance commitments, as he was supposed to arrive this evening as the guest of honor for the United Nations Press Association at its annual ceremony in Manhattan.
Guterres was also scheduled to participate tomorrow in a meeting of the UN Security Council focused on the challenges of terrorism and climate change.
It is noteworthy that United Nations spokesman Stephane Dujarric had announced a few days ago that Guterres had recently received his third vaccine dose against the Corona virus.
