Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne appointed Minister of SMEs to replace Alain Griset

The Secretary of State in charge of Tourism, French people living abroad and La Francophonie was appointed after the resignation of Alain Griset, sentenced Wednesday to six months suspended imprisonment for the "incomplete or false declaration" of his property status.


It will be Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne.

The Secretary of State for Tourism, French People Abroad and La Francophonie will replace Alain Griset as Minister Delegate for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises.

to the Minister of the Economy, said the Elysee in a press release on Wednesday.

Six months suspended sentence

Earlier today, Alain Griset announced his resignation from the government moments after being sentenced to six months suspended imprisonment and a three-year suspended ineligibility sentence for the "

incomplete or false declaration

" of his property status.

Traveling to Vichy, Emmanuel Macron said he was

"very sad"

for Alain Griset who did an

"excellent job"

and "took up his responsibilities" by resigning.
