Johnson on the defensive: New documentation shows attempted rendering of quarantine violations in 2020 | Israel today

A video released in the British media shows that Dunning 10 employees held a Christmas party while tens of millions of citizens were forced to be locked up • Johnson apologized on Wednesday and said he was "furious" because he was told no Christmas party was held in his office

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson was forced to apologize in the House of Commons on Wednesday after the British media released documentation of his aides trying to whitewash the existence of an incident allegedly against the harsh closure imposed on Britain in December 2020.

In the video, first published by ITV News, senior officials in his office joke that they will be forced to deceive the media about a Christmas party they held at the time while at work, while tens of millions of Britons were forced to shut themselves in their homes and banned from hosting large family dinners.

In the video the employees practice a scenario where they will be asked about the event, and then they decide to call it an “official work meeting” or a “cheese and wine event” (i.e. a serious discussion with light refreshments and not a party).

The filming took place on December 22, four days after the party at Boris Johnson's official office at Downing 10.

As mentioned, Johnson apologized on Wednesday and said he was "boiling with rage" because he had been told no Christmas party had been held in his office.

It is still unclear whether Johnson himself was present at the incident (although as stated he was not aware of it).

Johnson added that he intends to ask his ministers to investigate the incident.

"I understand the outrage, and also share the anger across the country in light of the fact that Downing 10 employees have disregarded the closure guidelines, I apologize for the impression created," he told the British House of Representatives on Wednesday.

"I was also angry when I saw the video," he added.

As expected, the opposition did for reasons of embarrassment, and Labor leader Kir Stramer told him inside that he had looted his office and was not morally qualified to lead the country.

"Her Majesty the Queen was forced to sit alone during the funeral of the man to whom she was married for 73 years. She demonstrated leadership and sacrifice, two qualities that give leaders the moral authority to lead. Does the Prime Minister think he has the moral authority to lead and ask the British people to abide by the rules?" Slapped him.
