Meretz defeated Shaked: The Infiltrators Law will not go to the polls before it expires Israel today

2021-12-08T09:53:50.808Z

The interior minister was interested in passing the temporary order in its previous format but encountered left-wing opposition in the coalition.

Further friction between the left and right wings of the coalition.

Interior Minister Ayelet Shaked asked for the extension of the Infiltrators Law to be put to the vote, while Meretz opposes a law that will expire tomorrow.

The Infiltrators Law, like the Citizenship Law, is also a temporary provision that requires the approval of the Knesset in order to extend it.

The law is intended to combat the phenomenon of infiltrators and it allows a double fine to be imposed on those who employ infiltrators and also allows their groups to be moved from place to place in the country.

As Minister of the Interior, Ayelet Shaked asked to extend it as it is without any changes.

Shaked's entourage says that the cabinet secretary, Shalom Shlomo, asked for the next two weeks to discuss the matter and find solutions.

Meretz, on the other hand, opposes the law for humanitarian reasons and claims that it violates human rights.

Therefore, the party sought to change various sections in it.

In the meantime, to the delight of Meretz members, the law will expire.
